Taking Inventory

Terrorists struck London on 7/7, and although it was halfway around the globe, it affected me as emotionally as 9/11 New York, Pennsylvania, and D.C. did. I find myself, once again, overwhelmed with emotions: anger, fear, sadness, helplessness, confusion, and hopelessness. But tonight I forced myself to ”take stock” of all the good things and blessings in my life.
Here’s my inventory:

1. I am grateful that my friends across the pond are all okay. And that some are so much more than acceptable…
2. I love my new Rogue friends who have taken me in….even though I sometimes wanna poke the wild animals.
3. My daughter, Erynn ROCKS! Somehow, still not quite sure how, I did that absolutely perfectly!
4. I am in a better place, physically, emotionally, mentally, than I was three years ago.
5. Cream cheese frosting on vanilla wafers is perfect comfort food. Forgettabout the calories.
6. Aspiring is inspiring.
7. I am lucky in the fact that I get paid to do something I am good at AND that I love to do.
8. I am proud to be an American, but I am not proud of some Americans
9. The “Party Elements” will always be elemental to my survivial.
10. Chocolate really does make everything better.

How ‘bout you?

1. LIFE - there are all sorts of things you can do with it.
2. FAMILY - can be a pain in the ass but so can I... gotta love em for just being.
3. FRIENDS - ditto from #2
4. OPPORTUNITY - the ones given, taken and created.
5. THEATRE, MUSIC, THE ARTS - no better record or celebration of the human condition - besides, it's entertaining as well.
6. THE ALMIGHTY - enuff said.

Every day I try and acknowledge at least one thing that has made me happy...however fleetingly. Tough call on 7/7...
Today it was discussing future short break with my brother and his family, the colour of the big bowl of cherries from our tree, and finishing off the chocolate brownie cake made by my beloved. I'm a simple gal! For more happy cake stories, see my blog!

To live we must conquer incessantly, we must have the courage to be happy.

Henri Frederic Amiel

The principal act of courage is to endure and withstand dangers doggedly rather than to attack them.

Saint Thomas Aquinas

He who loses wealth loses much; he who loses a friend loses more; but he that loses his courage loses all.

Miguel de Cervantes

Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace.

Amelia Earhart

I am thankful for my wife, children, friends and the courage to love them all the way they are!

Okay, great lists! So, since I'm often too/two wordy, I thought I might try this whole one/Juan (?) word thing everybody else seems to do:

Lecram - Celebrations
Lelly - Family
Mustang - Risks
SSM - Libations

Good to see gratitude lists. I usually take inventory of my reactions/actions/what it affected/my part in it/my fear/and what i could do about a situation that "affects" me.
Today I'm grateful for
Indian food
